13 Weeks
Last week of first trimester!!!!!
27 July 2004 23:23

How your baby's growing: Your belly may soon be big enough to announce to the world that you're expecting, but your baby is still tiny. In fact, he's only about 3 inches long crown to rump — roughly the size of a jumbo shrimp — and weighs just about an ounce. (more)

Long, fun day
22 July 2004 22:31

What a day we had! We went to the city, and our first stop was an oil change at Saturn of Hell Sioux Falls. At least they didn't run the car into a wall this time, but they did tell us we needed new tires... so we headed to Sears to see if they had any hairy ones on sale... since ours were just about bald. We were in luck - they did! But then we were left with about an hour and a half to kill while they were installed. (more)

Make sure to read the P. S.
20 July 2004 10:17

Your baby's hit the 2-inch mark (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce. Her face is beginning to look more human. Her eyes, which started out on the sides of her head, have moved closer together on her face, and her ears are near their final positions on the sides of her head. (more)

Don't worry... it's done, it's over, and it's been "fixed." I love you.

Cloth Diapering, 101
16 July 2004 15:15

We've been doing a little shopping for baby. As many of you know, we'll be cloth diapering, and I've done some sewing of fitted diapers already (basically, they look and work like disposables, except they get washed rather than tossed... I just have to decide if I want them to close with velcro, snaps, or pins). We've also bought some diapers online. But these aren't you're mom's cloth diapers! (more)

And breathe
12 July 2004 16:29

What an exciting day! Geof and I have been looking forward to this appointment for awhile now... ever since the last one really. We knew that today was the first time we'd have an opportunity to hear the baby's heartbeat. (more)

10 Weeks!
(and a weekly update from Mommy)
06 July 2004 09:15

Though the fetus is only about 1 to 2 inches long crown to rump and weighs less than half an ounce, it's busily swallowing and kicking. Each day more minute details start to appear, such as fingernails and peach-fuzzy hair. The vital organs — the liver, kidneys, intestines, brain, and lungs — are fully formed and functional, while the head is almost half the length of the entire body. The forehead temporarily bulges and sits high on the head, but later will metamorphose into a more human-like visage. (more)

Start spreading the news...
02 July 2004 22:05

We told our ladies at First's LWML meeting the other day. It was fun... I told them that I needed to switch my day for hosting because it was the same day I'm due =) The funny thing was, of the 6 women there, three of them kind of suspected it for one reason or another... well, really, two of them said they just *knew*. Milk, it Does a Body Good?
21 July 2004 23:04

Well, that's what "they" would like you to believe. Of course, there are experts that say otherwise, too. Remember the egg, anyone? One moment it's good, the next it's bad.

Here, we have milk, though. We both like milk. We go through it quicker than gas (perhaps, given its price per gallon, it's a good thing cars don't run on it). But it's one of those things Genevieve cannot tolerate. (more)

Fight Spam!
19 July 2004 19:44

You may find this little image on the bottom of my pages now (or shortly for some of the other ones). If you have a web page, it's a great idea. Why? Well, robots (that send spam to email addresses they find) like to search all of the links on your pages and follow them. They will follow this link and be in for a surprise.

Squishy Squishy
12 July 2004 15:07

Today was prenatal appointment number two.

It was exciting anticipating what could be done at this appointment. We were hoping that we would hear our baby's heartbeat. Well, the doctor pulled out the doppler instrument and started moving it around. We heard body sounds, but they were all Genevieve's. That was until the doctor was about to give up. That's when we heard the faint, little "squishy squishy" sound of baby's heartbeat. (more)

Freeshell Problems
02 July 2004 12:36

I know about the problems with the web page loading. Something's going on with Freeshell that is beyond my control. They have some new computers and are in the process of moving things to those machines. As with changes of this nature, they say and would like the transition to be seamless, but even they admit that it most likely would not be. Well, here we have the evidence that it's not as seamless as anyone would have hoped.

Bear with it...try a few times, the page(s) you're looking for may eventually load. When all is said and done, things should be back to normal. With the upgrade, things should be better than normal. Just give it some time.

Yes...this site is now open to the public...

Let the hysteria begin.

Raising a child (and preparing to raise a child) is expensive. Now, I don't want to make this sound like a plea for aid, but I know how generous people can be. Anyone wishing to share their generosity with us is welcome. We accept gifts through PayPal. If you would like to snail mail us, contact us for our mailing address.
Thanks to everyone for well wishes and prayers!
