More Family!!!!
22 February 2005 14:37

Robert has a new (second?) cousin... Mommy's cousin, Amy, and her husband Patrick had a little boy this morning...

Evan Patrick Valentine Summers
3:39 am
7# 13oz
21 1/2 inches long

Evan's name, Valentine, is named after the same Valentine (on my side) that Robert's is... our grandfather (Dziadzia - Busia's husband)

Welcome little guy! I'm glad you and mommy are healthy!

Long Day
01:11

Long day. Robert hates being strapped in his car seat... but falls asleep within minutes of the car driving.

First try at nursing in public. Thank God for the sling and big sweatshirts.

First time changing a diaper in a public restroom. Thank God for "family restrooms" - and Geof's help.

Robert's umbilical cord stump fell off today, too =) Hello real baths!

He's now over tired and wide awake. We have him swaddled, but we need to change his diaper and try and get him to sleep... and us, too.

Tomorrow I go to the lady's house who does the baptismal banners. I do the name writing on them, and now I get to write one for my son!!!

Also, I hear through the family grapevine that my cousin Amy's water broke today. So I'm praying that all is well with her and that she has a healthy baby soon (if she hasn't by now). I'm looking forward to the new family member =)

Where did the week go?
18 February 2005 00:05

I'm sitting here on the couch, typing on the laptop with one hand and holding a sleeping Robert with the other. Granted, I'm a lot more "with it" than I was 7 days ago at this time, but I'm no less in awe of this little miracle.

In the last week, we've learned that "Stinker" hates diaper changes, he looks really tiny in the crib (he's not sleeping there yet). He sleeps relatively okay in the cosleeper, but he'll sleep in 3-4 hour stretches next to me on the bed. Robert loves hanging out on Geof's chest, he'll tolerate the bouncy chair in the bathroom when I have to wash out his diaper covers or use the facilities, and he seems to prefer the cloth prefold diapers over the disposables we were using for the first few days (the screaming stops sooner).

He also has Mommy and Daddy wrapped around his (tiny and extremely cute) little finger.

First "bath"
14 February 2005 06:13

(I'll post more about the birth soon)

Robert got a sponge bath last night. We have been wondering what his hair color really is (for now) and I was hoping it would help. Not really =)

He did pretty well... in fact, I'd say he did really well for being a baby that HATES any form of partial nudity (diaper changes are a literal scream).

But now he's all clean and dressed in another yellow ducky sleeper. It's a good thing he looks good in yellow! And it doesn't clash with his little bit of jaundiced-yellow face =)

Doctor's appointment this morning, along with the NST. So that will be tomorrow's update. Babycenter.com doesn't give weekly updates after 40 weeks - so it's all me =)

40 Weeks!!!
And the ticker just keeps on counting...
01 February 2005 10:23

How your baby's growing: It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs in at a little over 7 pounds and is about 20 inches long. Your baby will continue to grow with every passing day (her nails and hair will continue to get longer, too). Your baby's skull bones are still separated and they'll stay that way to allow the bones to compress enough to fit through the birth canal during labor (you'll notice soft spots or "fontanels" on your baby's head for a year or more after birth). More Pictures
15 February 2005 17:03

I've put some more pictures on the site. There are some that Great-Aunt Kathy is really going to like.

I probably won't be announcing when new pictures are added from here on out, so check back often if you want to see some new ones.

Comment Spam
06 February 2005 07:49

I'm catching them as quick as I can. I'm blocking the ip-ranges and deleting all comments from this-or-that loan and here-and-there blackjack. This is called referrer spam. They are left here by an internet bot, not a person. The idea behind it is not so much to get you to follow their links, but to increase their Google Page Rank by placing links to their businesses over and over and over again on as many different web pages as possible. The more links to their site, the higher their rank. The higher the rank, the more people who are actually looking for these things will be able to find it more quickly on Google.

Now, an upgrade in Pivot has what they call a fix for this. There is a tag that can be placed in the links which will stop Google's bot from following those links, therefore not increasing the rank. This is a no-win situation for me, becuase I still have to go through and delete all the spam. It's just more work for me. No thanks.

Anyway, now you know what's going on.

People...Please
04 February 2005 10:42

I ask you to recall when you were pregnant...well, those of you who have been. Yes, this is an exciting moment. The anticipation is great, and the buildup is very hard to deal with. The questions, such as, "Did you pop, yet?" aren't helping any.

Don't worry, folks! Calm down, when the baby comes, we'll let you know. We're going to start conflicting stories. Tell one person we had a boy a month ago. Tell the next person we just had a girl two days ago.

So, if you would like to know the real story, as the saying goes, "don't call us, we'll call you."

Thank you for your attention.

On a side, mom, this doesn't count you...you actually thought we may have tried calling you.

Raising a child (and preparing to raise a child) is expensive. Now, I don't want to make this sound like a plea for aid, but I know how generous people can be. Anyone wishing to share their generosity with us is welcome. We accept gifts through PayPal. If you would like to snail mail us, contact us for our mailing address.
Thanks to everyone for well wishes and prayers!
