O Christmas Tree
28 November 2005 21:38

We took Robert with us the other day to get our Christmas tree. He even met Santa, Frosty, one of the 8 black-nosed reindeer (Geof said it was Blitzen) and their beaver mascot and didn't freak out - wasn't sure how he would handle the costumed strangers. Here's a few pictures of his frist trip to Beaver Creek Plantation. (more)

Baby's new scarf
18 November 2005 00:42

Anything that Robert has with a hood... like his snow suit or his sweatshirt from Oma... he makes sure that hood is off his head as fast as he can shake it off. So I decided to fix that by crocheting him a scarf! I know, I know - a scarf is a choking hazard on a baby... but we won't let him crawl around with it on, and I'll take it off of him in the car, okay? He'll only wear it when he's in my sight... I promise.

He looks really cute with it, though. You know you want to look... (more)

9 month photos
12 November 2005 00:16

Robert's 9 month photos from this afternoon are available if you send us an email. The first picture is with "Bunny" - THE toy that every child adopts that you hope you never lose. There are pictures with Pooh and Eeyore, too - those are his friends from his room.

For comparison... photos from 6 months and 3 months are available, too.

9 months (and a few hours)
11 November 2005 01:15

Sounds he makes... growling, this raspberry-like car sound, hysterical laughing, singing off and on whether there is music or not, and happy babble... lots of happy babble. He likes to screech a lot, too. He bangs on any flat surface in front of him, and he likes to tear the rings off the stacking ring toy... now to get him to put them back on...

He's big on doing the things he's not supposed to do - and he thinks "no" is funny. So far we've been pulling him away from the books in the bookcase, the videos in the video cabinet, banging on the glass of the entertainment center and the TV, and the cords to anything electrical. He keeps trying to get into my crocheting, too. He's such a stinker! But we love him like nothin' else.

He's getting really good at feeding himself the veggie puffs, too... though the jarred foods are another story as you'll see from these pictures... (more)

9 month check-up
07 November 2005 19:11

I often feel bad for not updating Robert's paper baby book. I need to get that done, but I should stop beating myself up... I *DO* have this site to work with!

We really weren't planning on taking him for this appointment. Really, they were amounting to pay $20 to weigh and measure him. We can do that at home for free. However, a few months ago I started having thyroid issues (quick biology lesson - thyroid controls hormones, including those that produce breastmilk. Not enough thyroid hormone can make breastmilk production difficult) and I was concerned that Robert might not be gaining enough weight. His weight - according to the post office scale - was staying about the same for the last 2 months and I just wanted to talk over some concerns with the doctor. (more)

Pearly WhiteS
02 November 2005 14:31

That's right, you heard me - plural!!! I thought I saw something last night, but Robert isn't keen on letting me feel around on his gums. But while we were at Bible study today, he tipped his head back to look at me while he was on my lap and I saw that he has a second tooth through the gums right next to the one that is (clearly) out now.

Comment Spam Attack
07 November 2005 17:01

Where did all the "Last Comments" go?

Well, this pivotlog was the victim of a comment spam attack. I think every single entry (nearly 300 of them) was hit, and I needed to go through every single one of them and delete the spam comment.

Here's the funny thing: they were worded as if to say, "Sorry for the inconvenience, but we'd like to advertise here. Delete this if you wish." Really? Why would I want you to advertise gambling, sex, and pharmaceutical sites on my site? What are you going to pay me to link to them? Yes, I deleted them, please leave me alone, now.

Raising a child (and preparing to raise a child) is expensive. Now, I don't want to make this sound like a plea for aid, but I know how generous people can be. Anyone wishing to share their generosity with us is welcome. We accept gifts through PayPal. If you would like to snail mail us, contact us for our mailing address.
Thanks to everyone for well wishes and prayers!
