Not much longer now...
29 December 2004 12:55

Last night while we were getting ready for bed, Geof and I noticed that my "belly" is MUCH lower than it used to be. So... baby has dropped! From everything that I've read (a book and a bunch of pregnancy sites) that put's birth-day at about 2-4 weeks from now. So Wags may not be a February baby =)

35 Weeks!!!!
28 December 2004 17:39

How your baby's growing: Your baby's getting big. He weighs a tad over 5 pounds and is just over 18 inches long. Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight. (more)

34 Weeks!!!
21 December 2004 17:23

How your baby's growing: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and is probably almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which she'll need to regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her central nervous system is still maturing and her lungs are well developed by now. If you've been nervous about going into preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that 99 percent of babies this age can survive outside the womb — and most have no major long-term problems related to prematurity. Doctor's appointment and Hospital tour
34 week update later today
09:49

We had our regular appointment yesterday. Everything is still looking good. 140 heartbeat, 36 cm measurement, up 3.5 pounds from last Salem visit (or down .5 pound from the appointment in Sioux Falls two weeks ago). Next week she'll do an internal exam to see if the baby is head up or down - she couldn't tell for sure yesterday by just feeling... she felt two round "parts" (one head, one butt). So I'll be doing everything I can to convince this baby to go head down (and stay that way) to avoid a c-section if at all possible (Dr. Peters isn't one of the docs in Sioux Falls that will attempt a natural delivery for a breech baby). 33 Weeks!!!
49 days to go...
14 December 2004 18:15

How your baby's growing: This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and measures 17.2 inches from the top of his head to his heels. His skin is becoming less red and wrinkled, and while most of his bones are hardening, his skull is quite pliable and not completely joined. This will help him ease out of your relatively narrow birth canal. (more)

Just a quick note...
12 December 2004 10:41

We're going to be having company from this evening through Wednesday morning, so I don't know if Tuesday's post will be up on Tuesday or not. If it's not posted Tuesday, it will be posted Wednesday.

Have a great week =)

Doctor's Appointment
08 December 2004 15:30

Things are still going well with the pregnancy. Baby's heartbeat is still about 140, and s/he kicked the Doppler while Dr. Peters was counting the beats. =) I didn't ask what I was measuring this week, and I'm up 4 pounds. Then again, I was at a different office with a different scale, so who knows. (more)

32 Weeks!
07 December 2004 17:09

How your baby's growing: By now, your baby probably weighs almost 4 pounds and is almost 17 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. She has tiny toenails now, and her fingernails have grown in, too. Some babies have a head of hair already; others have only peach fuzz. (more)

Hiccups
04 December 2004 17:56

I noticed this last night, but I was just thinking that our baby had a good beat! But this morning when we got up I felt a good, steady beat of "kicks" right in the center of my belly. Then I rememberred about the hiccups that babies get about this time. So... Wags is having fun with another "milestone" today =)

How Long...?
26 December 2004 16:55

It's hard to believe that in just over a month, I should be able to hold my child. That thought is so exciting, I can't begin to wrap my brain around it.

Man, I am anxiously awaiting a very happy birthday sometime in February.

Darn Tight Spaces
03 December 2004 21:25

We got a little spray device that hooks up to the toilet's water source today. In fact, it is supposed to replace the hose that runs from the source to the toilet. It has a valve on it so that you could run the water either through the sprayer or into the toilet's tank. The spray device itself kinda looks like the ones that you find with kitchen sinks. (more)

Raising a child (and preparing to raise a child) is expensive. Now, I don't want to make this sound like a plea for aid, but I know how generous people can be. Anyone wishing to share their generosity with us is welcome. We accept gifts through PayPal. If you would like to snail mail us, contact us for our mailing address.
Thanks to everyone for well wishes and prayers!
